PET handling at Gerolsteiner
FlexLink’s new PET Neck Guide Systems (NGS) with improved hygienic standards replace air conveyors.

FlexLink has successfully commissioned four conveyor lines for PET bottles at Gerolsteiner Brunnen GmbH in Gerolstein, Germany. The leading mineral water producer early adopted the FlexLink base-handling concept, which gives major hygienic and energy advantages over conventional air-conveyor technology.

FlexLink has replaced existing air conveyors with its neck guide system in both existing and new filling lines for the well-known one litre Gerolsteiner reuseable bottle. A test installation was successfully commissioned in February 2002 and three additional lines were taken into operation in May.

Meeting high hygienic standards
Mr Bernd Engelhaupt, Technical Director, Gerolsteiner, says: “We were very impressed by the performance of the first line, after which we decided to go ahead with three more. “A major advantage is the effortless way the system meets our high hygienic standards.”

1 000 PET bottles per minute
The FlexLink system transports up to 1000 PET-bottles per minute. The system handles bottles with a neck ring diameter of 38 mm and a bottle diameter of 80 mm.
