Founded in 1955, the firm of Weidenhammer today
has seven production sites in Europe, employs 700 people and has an
annual turnover of € 100 million, making it one of the world's
leading manufacturers of composite cans, drums, luxury tubes and
products made of single faced corrugated board. Here at the Belgium
site, all flavours of the famous Procter&Gamble Pringles cans
are being produced for the European and Asian market. Easy to order flexibility The enormous variety of flavours and diversity
in packaging for the different markets forces Weidenhammer to have
maximum flexibility in their production lines. On average, 1
million cans per day leave the site in Mechelen, Belgium. Mr. A. Smith, Technical Director Weidenhammer
Belgium, explains: "as we have a large amount of technical
knowledge in our company, we already knew exactly what we were
looking for. Our conveyor specialist, Hans Fuchs, built up all
production lines and we designed and build in-house the conveyor
control systems. We needed an international partner that could
supply us with a flexible, modular and easy to order solution." Support + service = value for
money First of all, the flexibility of the FlexLink
system and the global presence of the company have been identified
by Weidenhammer as being significant advantages. But that is not
all: "FlexLink has a clear catalogue and order support tools, like
FlexCad, that are perfect for a company like ours where a big part
of the production lines are designed and decided upon in-house,
says Andy Smith. We wanted a partner who understands our needs,
helps us with the implementation and who is able to guarantee a
good service level. For us, FlexLink definitely represents a good
cost effective solution!" Both companies being innovative and dynamic in
their approach, the future will no doubt hold many interesting
opportunities for close cooperation! |
