Dynamic buffer at Pfizer
High-level and flexible handling of bottles enables dynamic buffering of filling and packaging lines.

“Each year we produce more than 7 million bottles for injection solutions, for humans or used by veterinaries. These bottles are produced in a zone with a controlled atmosphere on lines, each capable of feeding selectively on to three lines of secondary packaging.

Special FlexLink solution
Two bottle transport tracks coming from each of the filling lines run parallel, high up for the main part of the line. Between these two tracks, “S”-bends allow the bottles to be picked after guidance, selectively on to one or other of the tracks, depending on the automatically pre-selected configuration. The transport of bottles at a height of 2.5 meters during a large part of the transport distance allows free circulation zone at the beginning of the packaging lines.

Dynamic buffering capacity
Even if the packaging lines have superior capacity compared to the filling lines, it was decided to have a dynamic buffering in the form of accumulation tables. These tables at the start of each packaging line allowed absorbing the bottles arriving late without disturbing the filling process.

Allowing adjustable transport of all types of bottles
The compilation of the systems allows an adjustable transport of all types of bottles, even the smallest ones of 7 ml which are especially unstable with their diameter of 20 mm and with a production capacity of 7 000 bottles/hour. The compactness of the system and the soft turns of the lines give you a lot of valuable space as bonus. M. Nadaud concludes by saying: “Our international colleagues within the Group often visit us. The low sound level of our lines always surprises them. Esthetically with a very high reliability, the FlexLink products perfectly respond to our demands.”
