Modular wide belt conveyors are highly suitable for wide or bulky products requiring stable handling and to be kept in position even through curves. A typical area for plastic belt conveyors is the transport between case packers, cartoners, in-case fillers, shrink/stretch wrappers, or bulk packers. Benefits of the modular wide belt conveyor system

FlexLink offers two modular wide belt conveyor systems, the WL and the WK conveyor series. As with all systems, they are based on plastic chain belts.

The WL conveyor system offers many benefits. Its main advantage is the wide belt range of up to 600 mm. Each belt width permits effective transport and accumulation in several configurations, with various lengths, straight sections, and vertical and horizontal bends. The belt is in a fine mesh pattern, designed to keep transported goods with minimal movement, even through curves. Many accessory components are shared with the chain conveyor system, such as guide rail components and supports.

The WK conveyor has the added advantage of an even wide belt range, up to 1200 mm. The WK series offers effective transport and accumulation in straight-running sections up to 20m. A very common use is handling lightweight products, such as bearings, bottles, and cylindrical products. The belt has a smooth, closed surface design to provide a soft product movement. Many accessory components are shared with the chain conveyor system, such as guide rail components and supports. Both WL and WK conveyors use T-slot fasteners to attach components, ensuring maximum flexibility. 

Easy cleaning of stainless-steel conveyors

Our stainless conveyors are easy to clean. Both the exterior and the interior are designed to minimize dirt or remaining water after cleaning. Cast stainless steel spacers not only have good cleaning and drainage properties but also make the design robust. Three versions of the stainless steel wide belt conveyor are available:

  • Wash down, easy to clean for spillage contact on semi hygienic surfaces
  • Wipe off, with covered sides and no slots for medium hygienic requirements on spillage contact surfaces
  • Covered return chain, for extra high requirements of cleanliness on dry food contact surfaces

The efficiency at which you can carry out cleaning is a major contributing factor to the production line’s downtime. If the cleaning has to be repeated, it negatively affects the overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). Using a modular approach and minimal mechanical fixings, FlexLink’s wide belt conveyors can achieve a typical strip downtime of two minutes (three meters long conveyor). 

For hygiene reasons, we offer a conveyor system based on an easy-to-clean, free-hanging return belt. It is possible to lift the top belt and fold back the outer slide rails for easy cleaning.

Stainless steel wide belt conveyors have many advantages

Advantages of stainless steel wide belt conveyors

Modular wide belt conveyors from FlexLink provide high capacities. The 85 mm wide version has an upper speed level of 120 m/min. The wider versions can run up to 80 m/min. Nevertheless, FlexLink has designed a robust stainless steel conveyor with low noise - considerably lower than industry standards.

The stainless steel modular belt conveyor design is fully modular, from the individual component to the complete conveyor. This enables easy but accurate assembly and easy modification of the conveyor configuration when there is a need to change the line layout.

The lead time from design to installation is very short, thanks to the standardized and modular design combined with FlexLink‘s global distribution network and fast delivery times. Once installed, the robust design ensures minimal downtime. Power, water and detergent consumption are also reduced to a minimum. All this helps to reduce the total cost of ownership.
